Denise Lambrechts

Denise completed her Diploma in Pharmacy in 1981. She has worked in hospital, retail and distribution since then. She has been employed by UTI Pharma (previously known as I.H.D) since 1995 and currently she holds the position of Regional Quality Assurance Pharmacist Manager.

Her interests include writing and maintaining of Standard Operating Procedures, Training and Auditing.

Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT)
At the end of 2000, a decision was taken by the government of South Africa to implement a pilot programme for the prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) of HIV. This resulted in two pilot sites being selected per province for the implementation of a PMTCT protocol developed by the national DoH. The pilot programme was largely funded by national conditional grants to each province.

South African Society of Physiotherapy International Congress 2009
30 April – 03 May 2009

The theme of the congress is “The Full Circle: educate and exercise.” This signifies how results from recent research has shown that physiotherapy has indeed come the full circle from treatment to prevention. One of the most important strategies physiotherapists can follow to facilitate prevention is to empower their clients to take control of their own health and wellness with exercises and education.
